King Schools offers aviation education at sea

Sailing November 2

The King Schools Envision Flight symposium will be held at sea for a second year, returning with a mix of professional development and Caribbean ports of call.

The King Schools Aviation Symposium at Sea in 2024 drew 170 aviation educators, and the company announced that this year's Envision Flight symposium will sail November 2 aboard the "Majestic Princess" out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Photo courtesy of King Schools.

Company founders John and Martha King plan to board the Majestic Princess in Fort Lauderdale November 2, accompanied by expert speakers who will lead various sessions focused on young flight instructors, FAA designated pilot examiners, flight school management software, virtual reality training, and other topics.

“Aviation educators often attend multiple symposiums a year, sometimes held in uninspiring venues with high price tags and rushed schedules,” said Brian Hough, senior vice president of business development for King Schools. “With Envision Flight, we’re flipping the script. A cruise cabin costs less than a typical three-night hotel stay, includes all your meals, and the symposium itself. No extra charge. Plus, it’s family-friendly so you can bring your partner or guest along for a minimal additional cost.”

The Princess Cruises website lists interior cabins (the most economical option) for the six-day cruise out of Florida starting at $547 per person. The itinerary includes visits to two ports in Mexico—Costa Maya and Cozumel—as well as Roatan, Honduras, before returning to Fort Lauderdale. King Schools noted in a press release that there are no additional fees to participate in the symposium, and cabin prices start at $942 plus $170 per person in port taxes and fees. The company advised contacting Ali Malik at 800-901-1172 extension 91162 to reserve using group code TPF.

King Schools CEO Barry Knuttila is also expected to join this year's Envision Flight symposium.

“Last year, attendees also dove into team-building games, won prizes, and built genuine connections—all while sailing the Caribbean,” Knuttila said in the press release. “Industry sponsors also enjoyed the relaxed format and the extended opportunities to connect with educators, students, and instructors.”

In separate announcements, King Schools reported that Lily Mocharnuk of Grapevine, Texas, was awarded the tenth Women in Aviation International Martha King Scholarship for Female Flight Instructors, which includes $5,000 in cash and lifetime access to all King Schools online courses. Middle Tennessee State University aerospace professor Collin McDonald was awarded the King Schools/National Association of Flight Instructors Flight Instructor Scholarship, which also includes $5,000 in cash and lifetime access to the King Schools online library.
