New Redbird scenarios qualify for Wings credit

A new collection of Redbird Pro instrument approach scenarios are eligible for FAA Wings credit when completed with an instructor, Redbird Flight Simulations announced July 22 at EAA AirVenture.

The Redbird Pro proficiency app for iOS or Android allows pilots to track their performance and target training in Redbird Flight aviation training devices. Each of the three new scenarios, bundled in a collection titled WINGS Credit Flights by Redbird, provides two Wings flight credits toward the three required to complete a phase of the Wings program.

The scenarios include an instrument landing system, localizer, and RNAV approach, respectively. Each one starts with a preflight briefing including weather conditions, phase and location of flight, and an approach plate. To earn the credits, the CFI present for the session must validate the training at ezwings.net.

“The WINGS-approved scenarios deliver a material expansion of training value to Redbird Pro subscribers,” said Redbird Vice President of Customer Experience Josh Harnagel. Although the app has more than 50 scenarios, he said, these are the first to be approved for Wings credit. “Now, subscribers can satisfy part of their requirement for a flight review in a cost-effective manner while continuing to benefit from the vast library of training scenarios and resources in Redbird Pro.”

The Instrument Pilot subscription including the approach scenarios is $19.99 per month and includes both VFR and IFR training. A VFR subscription is $15.99 per month.

Completion of a phase of Wings satisfies the requirements for a flight review and comprises three flight and three knowledge credits. Redbird said it is working with the Wings Industry Network to make additional tasks in Redbird Pro eligible for Wings credit.
