Where2Ride, a free mobile app from SocialFlight, the maker of a popular aviation event app, presents motorcyclists with interactive maps of cycling events, destinations, and popular bike rides, the company announced Nov. 17.

“Approximately one in five pilots are also motorcycle enthusiasts,” said Jeff Simon, an avid pilot and president of Where2 Interactive. “This presents a unique opportunity to serve both communities while also exposing them to one another, fostering growth and bringing new people into each market. Similar to SocialFlight, Where2Ride maps out all of the motorcycle events and great rides, motivating people to get out there and enjoy them. Our goal as a company is to promote both airplanes and motorcycles by answering the age old question: What adventure awaits me today?”

SocialFlight brings its aviation community members listings of suggested flight destinations, FAA forums, local events, and news updates.

Both apps deliver easy-to-read graphical depictions of events, and users can click on individual icons to zoom in on an area to find rich content.

The company said its new motorcycle app has a database of 6,000 motorcycling activities and allows events to be searched by date range, event type, organization, and distance from the user’s home. In addition to providing detailed information for each motorcycle event, Where2Ride includes a real-time event chat forum so attendees can communicate with one another, plus the ability to upload pictures from smart phones or tablets, according to the news release.

Both apps are free, and they are available on the iTunes App Store for the iPhone and iPad. They also are available on the Google Play Store for Android Phones and Tablets, as well as on the Web at www.Where2Ride.com and www.SocialFlight.com.
