AOPA Weather Release Notes

Interface Changes:
- Minor enhancement to TAF Condition Map:
  - Improved TAF condition marker color assignment when TAF contains an active TEMPO period. This will reduce the number of grey dots (unknown) on the map when a TEMPO period is active.
- Change to TAF text display:
  - Improved text display of TEMPO forecast data to show all weather data values within a forecast period rather than just the values that are forecast to be different.

Interface:
- Added option to display Radar and/or Satellite on the METAR Condition map
- Added link to AOPA Airport Directory on METAR cards

New Weather Content:
- New Color-Coded METAR Condition Map
  - Shows all METAR stations on the map with color-coded markers to indicate VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR and Unknown.

New Weather Content:
- Added NOAA Thunderstorm Outlook chart (12-hour outlook)
- Added AWOS/ASOS phone numbers to METAR cards where available

Minor fixes and enhancements:
- Added current location marker to maps
- Improved user settings retention (base map style, color scheme and default startup view)
- Set all international map labels to English language

New Weather Content:
- Added Future Radar (3 hour prediction)
- Added Future Satellite View (3 hour prediction)
- Added METAR History option on text weather views (last 3 hours)
App Interface Changes:
- Added Nearby METAR/TAF station list (shows stations within 50 miles of current location)
- Merged Home and Favorite METAR/TAF station lists
- Added User Settings Page with the following controls:
  - User selectable interface theme (light/dark/system)
  - User selectable base map (light/dark/satellite)
  - User selectable default startup view (select from any weather product)
- Assigned static order to overlays (Top = Wind Stream, Middle = Satellite, Bottom = Radar)
- Increased the zoom factor available for NOAA charts and graphics
- Minor color changes to app background and menus when in light mode

New Weather Content:
- Merged NOAA Icing Severity and Probability into single menu item
- Added NOAA Icing Severity w/SLD to Icing Severity and Probability menu list
- Better handling of missing METAR data points (will show N/A if data is missing)
- Detection of “$” in METARs along with message indicating sensor maintenance required
App Fixes/Changes:
- Easier method for setting a home airport if one is not currently set
- Ability to set a non-weather reporting airport as the user’s Home airport
- Added extra margin at bottom of METAR/TAF screens so text is not hidden by browser controls on mobile devices
- Fix to Favorites and Nearby METAR lists for more consistent scrolling on mobile devices

New Weather Content:
- Added NOAA Alaska Surface Chart
- Added NOAA Precipitation Accumulation Forecast Charts (6 time ranges: Current to 72 hours)
App Fixes/Changes:
- Fixed the ability to set certain Alaskan and Hawaiian airports as a user’s Home airport
- Added a What’s New message that displays on initial app open after changes are made to the Weather app
- Added link in the About section to re-open What’s New screen
- Added full release history / change log web page. Link available on What’s New screen

App Fixes/Changes:
- Added airport name, city name and State under the station identifier on METAR and TAF cards
- Minor update to some icons for functional clarity

New Weather Content:
- Added NOAA Graphical AIRMET charts
- Added symbol legend to the NOAA Surface Forecast Chart info screen
App Fixes/Changes:
- Slight format change to RAW TAF text to better align FM, BECMG and TEMPO lines for easier trend detection
- Added ability to collapse and reopen menu on desktop/laptop devices
