Pan Am academy partners with ExpressJet

The agreement calls for a pilot pay package of more than $50,000 in first-year compensation, which “makes this an ideal opportunity for Pan Am CFIs,” said Darrin Greubel, ExpressJet’s director of flight operations.

Boeing and other industry leaders have long recognized a worldwide pilot shortage. In recent months, many regional and major air carriers have inked agreements with aviation colleges, flight schools, and other pilot learning centers to help bolster the ranks of career pilots.

Pan Am academy’s Mark Johnson, the institution’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, said the pathway agreement “fills us with pride and solidifies our commitment to training the next generation of the world’s aviation professionals.”

The flight academy is the last remaining division of the original Pan American World Airways. The airline plied the skies in distinctively badged aircraft from the Golden Age of aviation through the jet age and helped bring air travel to the masses. The flight academy trained more than 5,000 aviation professionals in 2017.

In other news, the Pan Am academy recently partnered with Florida International University to provide high school students with an inside look at aviation industry careers. Dozens of students from local high schools learned about aviation opportunities as part of an immersive summertime career day.
