Top three reasons to take the Flight Training Experience Survey

If you have had any kind of flight training during the past 12 months, share your experience in the AOPA Flight Training Experience Survey.

The survey measures flight instructor and flight school performance on four key factors of flight training (educational quality, customer focus, community, and information sharing) through the eyes of students and customers. Instructors and/or flight schools who get more than five survey completions will receive a personalized report card of their performance. The survey is designed to prevent ballot stuffing by using statistical measures to rank scores. This allows smaller schools to remain competitive with larger ones.

This year, the awards, which will be given based on the survey results and a panel review, will be awarded in five regions for the best flight school and flight instructor, and then a national winner in each category will be announced.

Here are three reasons everyone who has taken any kind of flight training in the past 12 months should take the survey.

Make your voice heard: This is your chance to share what your flight training experience has entailed. If you and your flight instructor or flight school have a great working relationship or a rocky one that could be improved, AOPA wants to hear about it. It’s your chance to let others know how well your instructor is doing or in what areas he or she could improve.

Help improve the flight training experience for others: You have spent countless hours studying and flying, working closely with your flight instructor and/or flight school. Sharing the good and bad aspects of your training will help AOPA as it develops materials to provide CFIs and flight schools to improve the training process. In addition, instructors and schools who have more than five students or customers complete the survey will receive a report card showing them their strengths and weaknesses. This feedback will allow them to focus on areas in which they need to improve and highlight the areas where they are already excelling. The training providers will be able to use the report card to provide a better training experience in the future.

Enter for a chance to win prizes: When you complete the survey, you will have the chance to enter the 2017 AOPA Flight Training Experience Sweepstakes. Doing so will make you eligible to win one of six prizes: a $150 Aircraft Spruce gift card, a PilotWorkshops Real World Coast to Coast program worth $149, one of two Sporty’s Learn to Fly online courses valued at $200 each, or one of two Sporty’s Instrument Rating online courses also valued at $200 each.
