Comment deadline extended for proposed training complex

New deadline is May 3

The FAA is extending the comment period for its airspace study on the proposed expansion of the U.S. Air Force’s Powder River Training Complex by another 30 days. Comments on the proposed training complex are now due by May 3.

Under the proposal, the Air Force wants to create a 28,000 square-mile area covering four states to handle training for the B-1B Lancer and B-52 Stratofortress bombers, which fly out of Ellsworth and Minot Air Force bases in South and North Dakota, respectively. The Air Force says that the current military operations area (MOA) is no longer sufficient to handle training for the aircraft.

AOPA has closely followed the proposal, and continues to work with the FAA, Department of Defense, and members of Congress to ensure members are properly represented.

The new deadline is the final opportunity for members to get involved and submit their comments to the FAA by May 3. Click here to see a copy of the airspace proposal.
