A Hawthorne, Fla., pilot has won the grand prize in the 2013 Bahamas Pilot Challenge, PilotMall.com announced March 13. Robert McGuire was one of more than 100 pilots who entered the challenge, conducted for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. He won the grand prize: a total of eight nights at four Bahamas resorts.
The challenge required participants to land at as many airports of entry as possible within the year, and to get promotional passports validated by Bahamas immigration or customs officials.
Brad Zarembski of Wichita, Kan., won second prize, a total of six nights at three resorts; David Moose of Leesburg, Va., won third prize, which was a total of four nights at two resorts. “The Bahamas Pilot Challenge was by far the most fun I’ve had in an aircraft,” Zarembski said.
“We’re delighted that contestants hailed from all over, not just from the Southeast,” said Neil Glazer, president of PilotMall, which administered the contest for U.S. pilots.
Glazer said there won’t be a Bahamas Challenge in 2014, as he has decided to revamp the program. A relaunch is set for 2015, he said.
