Always something going on at AOPA campus at Sun ‘n Fun

Expanded presence includes ‘activity tent,’ outdoor courtyard

AOPA will expand its presence at Sun 'n Fun in 2014.

AOPA will be bigger and better at Sun ‘n Fun in 2014! This year the association is in a new, larger location with a wide variety of events and activities for members, nonmembers, and their friends and family to enjoy. Whether at the show for a day or the whole week, the association wants attendees to visit the AOPA campus often, because there will always be something happening.

The expanded presence at Sun ‘n Fun is part of a renewed commitment to meet members where they fly. The AOPA campuses at both Sun ‘n Fun and EAA AirVenture will consist of a primary membership exhibit tent that continues to provide core AOPA services historically seen at the airshows, a new “activity tent” created for education, programming, and socializing, and an outdoor courtyard area for relaxation, conversation, and community.

The new activity tent will host a variety of activities and gatherings for pilots and future pilots, of all experience levels. Take time out from touring the show to meet aviation celebrities and get autographs, enjoy a safety presentation from the AOPA Foundation’s Air Safety Institute, talk to experts like Rod Machado and Kathy Yodice on a variety of aviation subjects, and spend time just relaxing with other pilots under the umbrellas. Everyone is welcome—you don’t have to be an AOPA member to participate.

The activity tent will host a free pancake breakfast with AOPA President Mark Baker on Tuesday morning, April 1 (RSVP by email). It will also serve as a gathering point to support AOPA’s efforts to expand the pilot population through pulling together flight schools or flying clubs, and will help support and preserve airports through assembling airport stakeholders and Airport Support Network volunteers.

In the membership tent, you can join, renew, or update your membership and receive a free hat; talk to AOPA’s aircraft finance and insurance experts; get your photo on the cover of AOPA Pilot magazine; and pick up your AOPA seventy-fifth anniversary commemorative pin!

More information will be available as these shows get closer—to include a detailed schedule of speakers and events. Check AOPA’s Sun ‘n Fun Web page regularly for updates. Or stop by the association’s campus at Sun ‘n Fun to ask any AOPA team member for information about each day’s happenings.

We look forward to meeting you very soon and sharing all the excitement Sun ‘n Fun and general aviation have to offer.
