Summit kicks off first North Texas Aviation Week

Week celebrates Fort Worth's aviation ties

The Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau has created the first North Texas Aviation Week, calling it a chance to start a long-overdue tradition for a largely overlooked, integral part of the city’s local fabric. Aviation-related events and media opportunities will run during a 10-day span.

The week kicks off Oct. 10 through 12 with AOPA Aviation Summit at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Next will be the Aviation and Aerospace Industry Manufacturing Summit, Oct. 16 and 18, and the week will end with the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show on Oct. 19 and 20.

Fort Worth is home to local aviation entities including American Airlines, Bell Helicopter, and Lockheed Martin, and the Dallas/Fort Worth region is home to the second-largest aviation cluster in the United States. It is also home to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the third-busiest international airport in the country.

These aviation companies have partnered with the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau to create Aviation Week. The effort consists of a campaign using email, a website, and social media to promote, educate, and bring awareness to the public of the city’s strong, proud aviation history. The effort is also working on partnerships with local school districts.
