Apple launched iOS 7 Sept. 18. Image courtesy Apple.Whether you’ve been contemplating using an iPad in the cockpit, have used it for basic flight planning functions, or are a whiz at using the device to enhance your cockpit management, seminars at AOPA Aviation Summit will help you learn how to make it work best for whatever type of flying you do.

For those who regularly use the iPad in flight, Sporty’s Vice President of Marketing John Zimmerman will help you go to the next level in seminars on Oct. 10 and 11.

Zimmerman will share hidden tricks to get more out of your iPad as well as how to use high-tech iPad accessories in “Advanced iPad flying,” Oct. 10 from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the Fort Worth Convention Center Ballroom B. Then, in “ADS-B on your iPad” on Oct. 11 from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., he will explain Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) in easy-to-understand terms and tell you how you can get free in-flight weather and traffic on your iPad. The ADS-B seminar will be in Room 202D of the convention center.

Pilots who wonder if the iPad would be useful in the cockpit or want to start using it while flying should join Zimmerman on Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. for “iPad 101” in Ballroom B. Zimmerman will cover everything from choosing the right model iPad and downloading apps to cockpit accessories and legal considerations.

In addition to learning how to better use the iPad while flying, Summit attendees can stock up on aviation-related accessories for the iPad in the convention center’s exhibit hall.

AOPA Aviation Summit runs Oct. 10 through 12 and is packed with educational seminars on topics including maintenance, medical and legal, pilot skills, and technology. Seminars with leading luminaries will also be offered. Learn more about the seminar lineup and register for Summit today.
