ASA announces checkride, flight review apps

Whether you’re studying for a checkride or prepping for a flight review, it’s likely that ASA has an appropriate app for your iOS device. The company announced Nov. 19 that it has apps for the private, instrument, commercial, flight instructor, helicopter, and multiengine checkrides, as well as one for the flight review.

The apps use a question-and-answer flashcard format to list the questions most likely to be asked by examiners and provide succinct responses, according to ASA. Each is based on the Oral Exam Guide series by Michael Hayes.

Questions can be marked for further study from any subject area to create a customized collection of flashcards focused on areas of concern and a student’s particular learning needs. All questions include references for student resources where additional information on particular subject areas can be found, ASA said.

Each app sells for $9.99 and can be purchased from the Apple Store. The exam guides also are available in e-book format.
