From user fees to the FAA reauthorization bill or the Pilot’s Bill of Rights, House and Senate members have cast votes or spoken out on a wide variety of issues critical to general aviation over the past two years. Now, with the click of a mouse, AOPA members can use an expanded and revised tool to determine where their representatives and senators stood on the issues that matter to general aviation.
“With Election Day fast approaching, AOPA wanted to make sure that our members are aware of this great resource to help them assess how supportive members of Congress have been of general aviation,” said Lorraine Howerton, AOPA vice president of legislative affairs.
AOPA’s 2012 Voter’s Guide on GA Issues in Congress allows an AOPA member to analyze data using a variety of sorting options including presenting the results by member of Congress, political party, district, state, and GA Caucus membership.
AOPA members can view their representatives’ and senators’ votes on key pieces of legislation, or whether the lawmakers signed GA Caucus letters that stated their opposition to user fees, or objected to the LightSquared threat to GPS, among others. (It is important to note that a House or Senate member who does not belong to the GA Caucus would not have had the opportunity to sign a Caucus letter.)
