Join us for the Flightline Cookout, Presented by Jeppesen, under the stars on Friday night featuring the AOPA STOL Invitational and a night Drone Show you won’t forget! Spend a fun evening with family and friends enjoying drinks, camaraderie, and entertainment, and unlimited food. You’ll get an up-close look at the amazing flying skills of the AOPA STOL Invitational pilots as they demonstrate mind-blowing short take offs and landings! The night Drone Show won’t fail to mesmerize and thrill!
AOPA is excited to bring you a Short Field Take-off and Landing (STOL) Invitational! While you relax at the Flightline Cookout, Presented by Jeppesen, let some incredibly talented pilots demonstrate backcountry flying techniques.
Interest in STOL and Backcountry flying is spreading across the nation and growing with annual competitions in Alaska and Texas. Experienced pilots use multiple aircraft to demonstrate short take-offs and landings on a turf surface located near the airport infield, in close view of the spectators. The aircraft categories range from single-engine bush airplane to turbine powered, heavy touring aircraft.
All AOPA Fly-Ins will include seminars discussing STOL techniques and Backcountry Flying Safety.
Like electric candles on AOPA’s birthday cake rising into the night sky, a fleet of no fewer than 80 drones will put on a spectacular aviation themed show at each of our 2019 Fly-Ins to celebrate AOPA’s 80th Anniversary.
The Great Lakes Drone Company, producers of custom-crafted displays using customized drones and specialized software to control the night-time aerial display, will provide this fittingly festive aeronautical alternative to fireworks. The Michigan company was among the first in the country to earn FAA waivers to create light shows with dozens of drones flying in digitally choreographed formations.
The shows, now named, AOPA’s 80th Anniversary Star Dance will be at all of the AOPA Fly-Ins this year. #stardance19
In celebration of AOPA’s 80th anniversary, we have expanded our Exhibit Hall to get you up close and personal with more of the cutting-edge technologies that make your flying safer and more fun. There’s no better way to see, test, and buy than at an AOPA Fly-In, where you’ll find many of aviation’s leading manufacturers and product suppliers under one roof. Get the scoop, directly from specialists in the field, on competitive aviation brands and what the future of flying will bring.
Stop by the Aircraft Display, featuring dozens of aircraft from manufacturers, type clubs, and local collectors. From the newest models to the rarest vintage aircraft and warbirds, there’s something for everyone.
Looking to purchase? Learn straight from the manufacturer about the latest innovations in airframes and avionics. Interested in updating or upgrading? Speak with owners and experts to discover what they’re doing to preserve their vintage aircraft or to refurbish their general aviation fleet aircraft.
If you still need more incentive to attend, the Exhibitor Show Specials should propel you. These on the down-low specials will only be good for IN-PERSON purchases from select exhibitors. Show Special list coming soon!
Stop by the AOPA Village in the Exhibit Hall and meet your friendly AOPA staff. We look forward to showing you all the valuable resources available to members. Looking to save money? Talk to our financing experts. Ask about our members-only Pilot Protection Services with critical legal and medical coverage created to keep you flying. Learn how we can help you become a better, safer pilot through our courses, quizzes, and videos or assist you with an aircraft. Show your support of AOPA initiatives with the AOPA Foundation or find your local Airport Support Network Representative with staff from the AOPA Airports and State Advocacy team. Check out the AOPA Pilot Gear Store for the latest AOPA gear and pick up a cap, T-shirt, or commemorative souvenir.
At the Trade-A-Plane Aircraft Sellers Corral, the airplane comes to you, where you can talk to the owner, ask lots of questions, and kick some tires. A package from AOPA allows you, as a buyer, to see what the aircraft is worth based on Vref, the industry-respected valuation service. With estimates from AOPA Finance, you’ll have a clear sense of the cost to own. Buying an airplane can be a daunting task – but not at the Trade-A-Plane Sellers Corral. Be sure to stop by!
If you have an aircraft to sell, why park it on “the back 40” when you can park it where the action is – at the AOPA Fly-In!
For only $99, the Trade-A-Plane Aircraft Sellers Corral gives private owners of piston aircraft the opportunity to show their aircraft and connect with interested buyers.
Located near show center, just a short walk from Main Stage, you’ll get plenty of traffic. AOPA will provide a seller’s package for your airplane which will include Vref, and a financing model.
Show your aircraft and connect with prospective buyers – space is limited to 25 aircraft!
AOPA Fly-Ins have cool things for kids, too. Our Kids Zone has all kinds of entertainment, from interactive games to a fun play area including activities, learning, games, and more!
AOPA plans the fly-ins, but volunteers bring them to life. Whether it’s setting up the Main Stage area, guiding cars and aircraft into their parking spaces, or taking down displays and exhibits at the end of the event, there are many ways volunteers help make the magic happen. But volunteering isn’t all about hard work – it’s also about meeting other volunteers, seeing the fly-in from the “insider’s” perspective, and making friends and valuable contacts that you will keep for years. You’ll be proud to have participated, knowing that you did your part to support GA. If you want something better than a front-row seat, join our community of AOPA Fly-In volunteers! Plus, we'll feed you and give you a free AOPA Volunteer T-shirt and cap for your efforts!

Go inside CAL FIRE/DynCorp, Aerospace Museum of California, and Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento!
McClellan Air Force Base has been a part of California's military and aviation history since the mid-1930s. Eight years after its closure in 1995 McClellan Air Force Base was turned in to McClellan Business Air Park. The Department's firefighters, fire engines, and aircraft respond to an average of more than 5,600 wildland fires each year. Those fires burn more than 172,000 acres annually. CAL FIRE is also the largest full service all risk fire department in the Western United States. They operate the S-2T air tanker, UH-1H Super Huey helicopter, and the OV-10A airtactical aircraft.
After touring CAL FIRE/DynCorp, you will head to the Aerospace Museum of California for boxed lunches and free time to tour this great museum. The Aerospace Museum of California is one of aviation's greatest showcases with over 40 military and civilian aircraft and a world-class engine exhibit.
Finally, you will get an exclusive tour of the Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento hangars where they operate the Alenia C-27J Spartan aircraft on medium-range patrol and search and rescue missions.
