Embraer President and CEO Marco Tulio Pellegrini announced Nov. 16 that the company’s new Legacy 450 mid-light business jet has been given a 325-nautical-mile boost in its maximum range. Previously, the company advertised a 2,575-nm maximum range at long-range cruise power settings. Thanks to wing rib modifications, additional fuel capacity was added, and now the Legacy 450 is capable of a maximum range of 2,900 nm, the company said. This puts the jet’s maximum range near that of Cessna’s new Latitude, which claims a 2,850-nm maximum range at long-range cruise power.
Owners of early serial number Legacy 450s, which are set to begin deliveries by the end of the year, will be offered retrofits.
With the extra range, Embraer says that Legacy 450s will be able to fly nonstop between such city pairs as New York and Los Angeles, Orlando and Seattle, and even San Francisco and Honolulu.
