FltPlan Go, the mobile companion of the FltPlan.com free online flight planning tool with more than 150,000 registered users, has expanded support of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast devices via the Android version to match the ADS-B support offered by the iOS version of the app.
The Southbury, Connecticut, company has been steadily adding new features and capabilities to its mobile apps in 2015, including automatic synchronization of flight plans created on the website with mobile devices, expanded access to weather advisories, world aeronautical charts, and a ruler function. Support for the Dual XGPS170, Flight Data Systems Pathfinder, SkyRadar DX, and iLevil AW ADS-B receivers in the Android version of FltPlan Go is the latest addition.
“The FltPlan Go app is the only free app that works on both the iPad and the Android and works with many different ADS-Bs,” said Sarah Wilson, principal and director of new technology and business development at FltPlan, in a news release. “Why get locked into one ADS-B receiver? It’s all about having options.”
FltPlan Go can be downloaded for free from iTunes and Google Play, and offers a range of features to plan a flight and monitor its progress. Users can file and brief, calculate weight and balance, run checklists, and use an electronic logbook. Premium services are also available by subscription, including pre-departure clearance, SMS messaging, flight tracking, and Eectronic Advance Passenger Information System (eAPIS) filing with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and its Canadian counterpart.
