An automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) installation by Garmin has been certified for the Gulfstream G150 mid-sized business jet, said Olathe, Kansas,-based Garmin International.
Garmin’s technology, combining the GTX 3000 Mode S Extended Squitter remote transponder and the GDL 88 ADS-B datalink, will "bring NextGen compliance" to the eight-passenger, twin-engine business jet, it said.
"This cost-effective ADS-B upgrade meets the immediate needs of business aircraft that have limited options to address global airspace requirements," Garmin said in a Jan. 6 news release.
The GTX 3000 utilizes position information from the GDL 88 to broadcast "aircraft identity, state and intent data" to air traffic controllers, while integrating with the aircraft’s existing equipment for a streamlined installation process, Garmin said.
The GTX 3000 and GDL 88 "offer an enhanced level of visibility to other operators in the vicinity, which is unique to this ADS-B Out solution," it added. The capability to broadcast position information on both 1090 MHz and 978 MHz ensures visibility to all ADS-B In-equipped general aviation aircraft.
The Gulfstream G150 approval expands Garmin’s certified ADS-B installations, "allowing business and transport category operators to continue operations in regions around the world where ADS-B is required," said Carl Wolf, Garmin vice president of aviation sales and marketing.
Installation of the technology in the Gulfstream G150 is currently available at the Gulfstream Service Center in Dallas, Texas.
