The revolution moving aviation tasks from paper to digital continues, so it only makes sense that this expand to the aviation maintenance side. Below are five apps designed to help users with the upkeep of aircraft maintenance. These are not endorsements of any app.
iLOG - Flight & Maintenance Logs ($149.99 in iTunes)—This iPhone/iPad app touts itself as the digital alternative to traditional paper flight and maintenance logs. Users have access to pre-populated data, including security seals, trip details, RVSM ground and in-air checks, block times, and engine, airframe, and APU times.
FAR AMT ($9.99 in iTunes)—The folks at ASA have created this iPhone/iPad app to hold information from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, as well as advisory circulars pertinent to aviation maintenance technicians, aircraft maintenance operations, and repair shops. It also provides a Pilot/Controller Glossary and the complete Aircraft Inspection, Repair and Alterations text (AC43.13-1B and AC 43.13-2B), all searchable.
Bolt & Nut Aero and Flights ($0.99 in iTunes)—This iPhone/iPad app serves as a resource for those needing to look up aerospace fasteners. It provides users to a link where entry specifications can be viewed.
Aircraft Maintenance Technology magazine (free in iTunes)—This app serves as the iPad version of this monthly aviation maintenance magazine. Editorial is focused on the latest technology and maintenance best practices from all segments of aviation and aircraft maintenance, with columns covering issues including Staying Legal, AMTSociety Mx Logs Update, and Industry Viewpoint.
Monarch MRO (free in iTunes)—Monarch uses this iPhone/iPad app to offer information to potential and existing customers. Users can view services available, contact personnel by phone or email, check on the status of their repairs, and view guidelines the company uses when doing repairs.
